Junior players lined up on the court before a drill

Advanced Competition · ages 7–13

Junior Competition Tennis for Ages 7–13

The first assessment class is free. For children who already rally and want to compete. The Advanced Competition group plays at 6 PM every weekday — Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Patrick J. Meli Park, Tuesday and Thursday at Frost Park — with Conditioning before it on Tuesday and Thursday. Our sectional champion coaches decide each placement.

What the group works on

Less drilling in lines, more playing points. Sessions build footwork, shot selection and the serve and return, then test them in match play and scored games.

Conditioning on Tuesday and Thursday (5–6 PM at Frost Park) adds speed, agility and strength. On those days a player can do Conditioning at 5 and match play at 6 at the same park.

How placement works

Book the first class free, and the coach watches your child play. A child who is not ready for match play yet starts in the 5 PM Social Tennis group and moves up when the coach says so. The group plays with green and yellow balls, depending on the player.

Tournaments

NOVA runs its own tournaments and leagues, split by level so players meet people like them. Players aged 13 and over can enter; each player account keeps a rating and every result.

Dania Beach is five minutes or less from every park — our home town has its own schedule on the homepage.
